The lucky last at Musselburgh and a tricky Class 6 nine runner handicap to finish off for horses rated 0-65. Our race preview analyses each horse in detail and our betting tips indicate that the favourite should build on his last time out second and record his first win.
IN SUMMARY: He may not have won a race yet but Causey Arch (5/2) looked a well handicapped horse over one furlong further at this same cause 12 days ago when finishing second at a big price behind an Irish raider. Raised just 2lb for that, he can build on that on his sixth start in a weak looking race. Yours Forever (6/1) is a half sister to some good horses and could in time leave a rating of 58 well behind, and looks the main danger on handicap debut.
1 Frap – A winner at Carlisle three starts ago, was completely outclassed in a Class 3 last time out and that run is best forgotten. Hasn’t shown anything to suggest that he is much better than this mark of 62 though and likely to find one or two too good.
2 She’s Golden – Given a handicap mark of 62 following two midfield finishes in Class 4 maidens at Leicester on similar ground. Beaten by some good horses last time out but given how poorly she ran on debut will probably need the run.
3 Causey Arch – Showed promise on debut when a 4th (front 3 all won their next start) but took until last time out to build on that. Drop back in trip should help if similar front running tactics are employed and cheekpieces are retained.
4 Bazula – Showed far more than any previous start when 4th at Beverley last time out but this ground is an unknown given poor performances on Soft twice in April and not shown enough to expect to be competitive off a mark of 58 here.
5 Yours Forever – Big prices for all 3 starts in Maidens when running well enough and is a half sister to several horses rated in the 70s and 80s. Ground should be fine on breeding but lacks experience compared to others in the field.
6 Ingleby Erin – Yet to get within 10 lengths of a winner despite several races as a two year old and this is her second start in 6 days. Well beaten at Beverley last time out and goes off same handicap here. First time cheepieces used but hasn’t shown enough to be backable, although market move would be interesting.
7 Chookie Valentine – Made handicap debut just under three weeks ago when 10th in a fairly closely bunched field (last of horses not eased off). Well beaten by Jocks Wa Hae (beat Causey Arch last time out) and needs to find a lot more to be competitive.
8 Toffee Apple – Rated just 45 and has only run competitively in one race, a conditions Class 6 at Brighton in April. Two month break since well beaten at Bath and sold for just 4,000 guineas. Best watched.
9 Bahrikate – Outsider of the field, sent off at triple figure prices on all 3 starts so far. Handicap debut off 45 but impossible to back off what she’s shown so far.
myracing Forecast Prices: 6/4 Causey Arch, 5/1 Frap, Yours Forever, 8/1 Bazula, She’s Golden, Toffee Apple, 16/1 Ingleby Erin, 33/1 Bahrikate
