4.25pm Market Rasen Tips & Betting Preview 15/05/2016

IN SUMMARY: Indian Stream looked in excellent nick when winning against her own sex at Cheltenham last month and remains lightly raced over fences but this can go to ART OF LOGISTICS, who got his career back on track and travelled like the best horse in the race when third on his debut for Philip Hobbs at Newbury last month. In the end, he was outstayed by Thomas Crapper and one other but he’ll probably be better suited by the sharper track here and the switch to a right-handed circuit is probably in his favour too. Johns Spirit lurks on a dangerous mark and was seemingly back in form at Cheltenham last month but has been on the go for a while and is seemingly regressive now. Tindaro is a bit of a character but is suited by a strong pace and, with Brave Spartacus and My Brother Sylvest in this line-up, that looks likely.

1 Brave Spartacus – Produced excellent front-running display to land the Summer Plate over 2m5f here in July and returns here after capitalising on lower hurdle mark at Sedgefield (2m1f, good to soft) last month; reverts to chasing on fairly tough mark but could be hard to catch if getting into a good jumping rhythm.

2 Witness In Court – Unseated rider on consecutive starts over the big Aintree fences last season but got back on track when scoring at Perth (2m4f, good) last month; evidently in good heart but this race looks more competitive and subsequent 5lb rise demands a new career-best performance.

3 Sir Valentino – Completed 2m hat-trick towards end of 2015, winning a Leicester hurdle and two Ludlow chases; lacked fluency when fifth at Doncaster on latest outing in January but didn’t run badly there; not out of this if today’s step up in trip suits.

4 Art Of Logistics – Grade 3 novice chase winner when trained in Ireland; lost his way last year but made pleasing stable debut when third to Thomas Crapper at Newbury (2m4f, good) last month; ought to be better suited by this shaper/right-handed track and commands respect.

5 Johns Spirit – Dropped a long way down the handicap last season and is evidently not as good as he once was but seemed to have arrested his decline when third in Grade 2 handicap at Cheltenham (2m5f, good to soft) last month; another 5lb lower here and the faster ground is probably in his favour.

6 Thomas Crapper – Belatedly opened account over fences when fitted with first-time cheekpieces at Newbury (2m4f, good) last month; subsequent fourth at Sandown was very respectable and he probably found 2m2f a bit sharp when slightly below that form in blinkers at Kempton last time; cheekpieces back on today; enters calculations.

7 Indian Stream – 3-4 over fences after impressive success in Listed mares’ handicap after break at Cheltenham (2m5f, good) last month; 9lb higher now and faces tougher assignment against males here but dangerous to ignore in current mood; also engaged 6.30 Uttoxeter Saturday.

8 Tindaro – Quirky customer who is seen to best effect when ridden patiently in a strongly run race but doesn’t always looked the hardiest of battlers in the closing stages; ought to have this race run to suit and made quite encouraging return from absence on the Flat recently; risky for win purposes but no surprise if he’s on the premises.

9 Turn Over Sivola – Has slipped to an attractive mark and will be suited by today’s ground but his only win from 18 starts over fences came in a three-runner novice event. and his finishing effort is usually disappointing; travelled well for a long way when second at Kempton (2m2f, good) recently but may continue to frustrate.

10 Dineur – Been in good form in slow-ground hunter chases this year, most notably when very creditable second over the big Aintree fences (2m5f, soft) last month; current mark unlikely to make life easy back in handicaps but today’s return to decent ground should suit; interesting to see how he fares.

11 My Brother Sylvest – Front-runner who rallied well to take advantage of some help from the handicapper at Taunton (2m2f, good) in March; remains well treated on old form and is suited by this track but was probably a shade fortunate that day and is not one to rely upon heavily.

12 Bar De Ligne – Returned to form and gained hard-fought success here (2m5f, good) in June but was comfortably held behind Brave Spartacus in the Summer Plate back here the following month and hasn’t been seen since; others have more pressing clams.
