IN SUMMARY: ELLERY LANE (15/2) is not certain to be suited by today’s drop back in trip but she created a good impression when winning comfortably over 7f at Limerick on her recent debut and that performance should be upgraded, given she didn’t take the bend well, She holds a Moyglare Stud Stakes entry and is selected to make the necessary improvement to land this prize first. British-raider Seafront kept on well to collect some valuable “black type” when placed in a Naas Listed event four weeks ago and probably sets the form standard here. However, she may have been slightly flattered by the way that race panned out and Spy Ring, who was hampered inside the final furlong that day, might have finished ahead of her with a clear run. Interestingly, though, Kieren Fallon has switched to another participant in that race, Magical Fire, who has bagged a Fairyhouse maiden since finishing fifth at Naas. Aidan O’Brien’s filly Roly Poly has an excellent pedigree but has disappointed on both starts since her maiden win and needs to up her game.

1 Ellery Lane – Has stamina on her dam’s side and made her recent debut at Limerick over 7f, but she won that comfortably despite looking rather awkward around the bend; encounters slower ground here but is open to significant progress if suited by today’s drop in trip; holds a Group 1 entry.

2 Ellusive Beauty – Seems to be improving with experience and comes here after narrowly winning a Fairyhouse maiden (6f, good to firm) earlier in the month; should have more to offer but needs to make another good leap forward to pose a threat at this level.

3 Hyzenthlay – Made winning debut at Navan (5f, soft to heavy) in April but has struggled in Listed company on both subsequent outings, more recently when a 50-1 shot over 6f at Naas a month ago; impossible to recommend on that evidence.

4 Lady Beware NR – Runner-up in a C&D maiden in May, her second start, and also posted a good effort when chasing home Magical Fire at Fairyhouse this month; will need to find something extra get off the mark in this stronger contest, though.

5 Magical Fire – Kept on for respectable fifth in Listed company at Naas (6f, good) last month, her second start, and didn’t need to improve to win Fairyhouse maiden (6f, good to firm) 18 days ago; has much more on her plate now back in Pattern company but Kieren Fallon presumably favours her over Spy Ring.

6 Miss Cogent – Soundly beaten over 6f on first two starts but rallied well to open her account at Cork (5f, yielding to soft) this month; has plenty of scope to build on that performance but another good jolt of progress will be required here.

7 Roly Poly – Out of a four-time Group 1 winner and overcame her inexperience to win narrowly on debut at Naas (5f, good) in April; however, hasn’t made the progress that would have been expected in Pattern company on her two subsequent starts and was already beaten when hampered at Royal Ascot on the more recent occasion; not written off just yet but has a point to prove.

8 Seafront – British-raider who displayed improvement and outran her 33-1 odds when third in a Listed event at Naas (6f, good) last month, her fourth run; the comfortable winner of that race was slightly disappointing at Royal Ascot on her next start but the form still makes here a leading contender here.

9 Spy Ring – Held on well to make winning debut at Cork (5f, good to firm) last month and can be rated quite a bit better than the bare form of her eighth in Listed company at Naas (6f, good) a few days later, where she was hampered when in the mix for minor honours inside the final furlong.
