Tips for Nottingham Races

Nottingham racecourse – and greyhound track, which is just next door – is a Flat racing track just outside of the town centre, next to the River Trent. myracing have sponsored a number of meetings at Nottingham in recent years and are proud to support the racecourse. When it comes to finding the best Nottingham tips around, our experts have you covered.

Course: There are actually two tracks at Nottingham; an inner track used in spring, and an outer track used in summer. This allows the tracks more time to recover, resulting in better ground. Our tips often include high class horses attracted by this bonus towards the end of summer. Both tracks are approximately a mile and a half and almost flat, and longer races feature a sharp turn in which can favour front runners despite the long run in.

Draw Bias: Shorter races tend to slightly favour the higher draws, thanks to the stands side rail. Generally, our Nottingham tips find the track favour those who race up with the pace, although in the right race hold up horses may be preferred.

Feature Races: There are not one but three feature races at Nottingham every year. All three are Listed races:

• Barry Hills Further Flight Stakes – one mile six furlongs
• Kilvington Fillies’ Stakes – six furlongs
• Nottinghamshire Oaks – one mile two furlongs

The Colwick Cup featured a £35,000 prize pool – one of the most valuable Class 3s in the country – and was sponsored by myracing in 2018.
