What Kind Of Galway Racing Tips Do We Offer?

Situated at Ballybrit Racecourse in Galway, it hosts one of the highlights of the summer with the week-long Galway Festival. It hosts both Flat and National Hunt racing, dating back to 1869. Ladies Day (Thursday) of the Festival is one of, if not the, best-attended race days in Ireland.

When Do Today’s Galway Tips Go Up?

Our Galway selections, like all our racing selections, are posted in the evening the day before the meeting, with all tips for the following day up by 7pm. The Galway Festival is one of the biggest Festivals in Ireland and as such, all the big races will be covered by our runner by runner previews.

Pointers For Picking Your Own Galway Racing Tips

Trainer And Jockey Statistics

The top jockey at Galway in terms of winners is Declan McDonogh, with Galway’s leading trainer being Dermot Weld. All the in-depth statistics can be found above.

Course Characteristics

It’s a right-handed mile and a quarter circuit which is fairly undulating. There are some tight turns which plays into the hands of speedy types for our tips. But there is an uphill finish of two furlongs so horses have to stay the distance well in order to get home.

Draw Bias

There’s a number of good races over seven furlongs through the season. It’s slightly favourable for our tips to be drawn towards the middle-high numbers.

Feature Races

The Galway Festival lasts seven days and begins on the last Monday in July every year. It’s greatly attended and the racing is of high quality.

  • Monday – Connacht Hotel Handicap is the feature race
  • Tuesday – Colm Quinn BMW Mile Handicap (Premier Handicap) is the feature race
  • Wednesday – Galway Plate Day
  • Thursday – Ladies Day (Galway Hurdle)
  • Friday – Guinness Handicap (Premier Handicap) is the feature race
  • Saturday – Super Saturday
  • Sunday – Final day
