Road to Cheltenham Series: You won’t get a better price for this Willie Mullins horse 👑

Willie Mullins after a six-timer at Punchestown

The Cheltenham Festival is always in the back of the minds of Jump racing fans as soon as October hits. Many British National Hunt fans view Chepstow’s first Jumps meeting of the season as the curtain raiser and that is less than two weeks away. With the Flat racing calendar reaching its conclusion in the coming weeks, all thoughts will soon be on Cheltenham. Liam Bramall’s Road to Cheltenham Series kicks off this week. A weekly ante-post tip for the Cheltenham Festival in March will be advised and we’re starting off strong. You can check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle

Ballyburn is a hugely promising horse that won both of his bumpers last season. He was an easy winner of his sole Irish point before that and the form has worked out unbelievably well. Patrick Mullins rode him in both bumpers and he gave a glowing assessment of this horse in a recent interview. The amateur rider is a shrewd judge and always gives valuable intel.

Willie Mullins’ charge has a pedigree which screams stayer and he’s definitely going to want a trip. There is no doubt that he’ll stay three miles but he has more than enough cruising speed and class to claim victory in this more prestigious 2m5f event. His career trajectory is quite clear and the most logical path is Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle, the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase in 2025 and the Gold Cup the following year.

This gelding has the world at his feet and it would be no surprise to see him go right to the top. Currently available at 7-1, the price isn’t outstanding but you won’t get a better one all year. Willie Mullins has won the last two renewals of this race and Ballyburn can make it an unprecedented three-in-a-row.

Ballyburn @ 7-1 (Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle) 2pts win
