Willie Mullins to have one runner on the all-weather at Lingfield on Friday

Britain is obviously used to Willie Mullins coming over to plunder some prize money and he does so regularly in the National Hunt sphere. Whilst he has a fair record on the Flat, particularly at Royal Ascot, he’s yet to have a winner from seven runners on the all-weather. He’ll be hoping that will change on Friday as he sends one runner over to Lingfield. We’ll take a close look at the horse’s chances and consider the main dangers. 4.10 Lingfield

There’s some decent prize money on offer at Lingfield, as they host the All-Weather Championships trials. This particularly event is one for the stayers and Mullins has booked last season’s champion apprentice Sean D Bowen for the ride.

Mr Escobar was beaten by a nose when finishing second at Chester back in September and Bowen was also on board that day. He wasn’t disgraced when finishing sixth in a valuable handicap at Naas after that and races off the same mark here. A return to winning ways can’t be ruled out, as this race looks considerably easier.

No stranger to these shores, he was a comfortable winner of a novice hurdle at Sedgefield when last seen, the form of which has since been boosted, with the second and third both going one better next time. Having been on the go throughout the summer, he’s had a little break since and should be fresh now.

Roaring Legend looks like the biggest danger as he’s been in fine form since returning to the Flat. Another horse to watch is Harry Derham’s Givemefive at the bottom of the weights, who is a smart performer over hurdles on his day and could be dangerous here.
