The rain can throw up many a surprise winner and don’t be surprised if the aptly named Raincloud outruns her likely big odds in the 3m1f handicap hurdle. She was beaten out of sight on good to firm ground at Market Rasen last time, but ran the best race of her career here over 2m1f in July when second on soft ground at odds of 200/1. With conditions back in her favour, she might be worth a bet.

3.27 Cartmel

In the following 3m1f handicap hurdle, he will be a much shorter price but Shyjack Hijack should take all the beating. He has progressed with each of his four starts over hurdles, and only found one too strong when second on handicap debut at this track over 2m6f last month. Only 1lb higher now, he loves soft ground and will go well.

4.02 Cartmel

The Churchill Lad has form figures which read 2224 on soft ground and the former course winner can bounce back to form on ground he loves at a venue he loves too. He failed to land a blow when seemingly well fancied at Perth last time but is now 1lb below his last winning mark.
