The General Election is going on in Britain on Thursday and people across the country are voting as we speak. Whilst the result of that will have serious implications, we’ve decided to have some fun with it. We’ve picked out three politically-inspired runners on Thursday that would be rather topical winners on General Election Day. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Annie Law hasn’t been in the best of form so far this season but that does mean she’s well handicapped. James Fanshawe’s filly has three wins to her name and one of those has come over today’s trip of 7f. Her sole win on turf came at Doncaster in June 2023 off a 2lb higher mark and that form certainly gives here a chance. Last successful at Kempton in October, she should be very competitive now rated 4lb lower but she does need to find something in order to return to form.
Cabinet Of Clowns runs at Kempton and a return to winning ways could be on the agenda. Eve Johnson Houghton’s gelding is currently rated just 2lb higher than his last winning mark and is entitled to improve significantly for his most recent effort. He appeared to need the run badly and this race looks a little easier.
Politicise has it all to do here and his 100/1 odds don’t underestimate him. The official ratings suggest he has a whopping 50lb to find with race favourite Enniskerry, who is our free tip in this race. Cian Collins’ eight-year-old does have two Flat wins to his name however, although his most recent success came back in October 2020. Stranger things have happened but this gelding has a lot to find.
