Alex Harvey landed a double at Downpatrick on Monday at odds of 11/2 and 5/2, and that means that the red-hot rider has now ridden 9 winners from his last 20 rides. With nearly a 50 per cent recent strike-rate, Harvey has six rides at Bellewstown on Wednesday and we will assess each of their chances below.
Long Gone has a solid chance in the extended 2m4f claiming hurdle. Fourth in a beginners’ chase at Tramore ten days ago, a reproduction of her second in a Kilbeggan handicap hurdle in June, a race that has worked out well, brings her right into this.
Jackson Lamb was beaten only a length by Jazz De Cotte when third in a 2m6f Downpatrick maiden hurdle last month. The drop in trip is fine and this front-running type could be hard to catch if allowed a soft lead.
Sydney Cruiser was rewarded for her consistency when landing a Sligo handicap hurdle under Harvey seven days ago. The mare will be 7lb worse off here which makes life tougher but she is there with a chance nonetheless.
Montecam was far from disgraced on his first start since leaving Nicky Henderson when fifth of 15 here at this track over the extended 3m last month. He is a risky proposition and the market should be revealing.
Eastern Wind is twice a winner around here on the Flat and she won a mares’ maiden hurdle at Tipperary in May. She has to improve a bit to trouble a couple of these but that is not out of the question.
Fine Print is very interesting on his handicap hurdle debut. The dual winner on the Flat was given three spins in maidens and an opening mark of 91 seems to be very workable. Watch the betting.
