Venetia Williams landed a treble at Ludlow last time – check out her runner on Thursday

It has been a tough season for the excellent Venetia Williams but she roared back to form at Ludlow‘s last fixture, with a magnificent treble. The Herefordshire-based trainer sends a runner to the track on Thursday so we’ve taken a closer look at the horse in question’s chances.

3.17 Ludlow

Haut Folin has pulled up in four of his last five starts but wasn’t disgraced when third over course and distance off a 5lb higher mark last month. His last success came over this trip at Ffos Las in November 2023 and he currently finds himself on an 11lb lower mark.

Three winners from 10 previous runners at Ludlow this season gives Williams a pretty healthy course strike-rate of 30 per cent. Ludlow has been good to her over the years and she’s just six winners shy of reaching the 100-winner mark at the track.

Evan Williams’ Everyonesacritic appears to be the most likely winner, as he was an impressive winner at Hereford last time out. The handicapper has put him up 7lb since but the extra weight wouldn’t have stopped him that day. Kit’s Coty won over course and distance in October and she shouldn’t be dismissed off just a 1lb higher mark.

It’s hard to know what to expect from Haut Folin, given his sketchy record of failing to complete, but if putting his best foot forward, the nine-year-old is very well treated on his best form.
