Klycot (25/1, bet365) has the right kind of profile in this race and would be considerably shorter if trained by a bigger name trainer. Richard Bandey’s four-year-old defied a penalty in good style at Wetherby last time out and the switch to handicaps will suit him.
Beckett Rock (50/1, bet365) was a fair sixth in this very race last year and if you take the impressive winner out of the race, he wouldn’t have been beat far at all. It’s definitely noteworthy that Henry de Bromhead’s gelding would be running off a 1lb lower mark this time, so underestimate him at your peril.
The Enabler (33/1, bet365) may have been unfairly overlooked by the market here. A mark of 140 looks very workable on the evidence of his impressive win at Fairyhouse earlier on in the season and he has run well enough in graded company since. Handicaps should be much more suitable.
Forty Coats (33/1, bet365) won a nice race to finish fourth in the Turners Novices’ Hurdle here last season but he remains a maiden over hurdles. A return to that sort of form would surely give Henry de Bromhead’s seven-year-old every chance and he’s capable of outrunning these odds.
