1.45 Musselburgh

Yellow Diamonds finished fourth behind Staya on debut, and that filly has since gone on to place twice in Group company. She came third on debut for Kevin Philippart De Foy at Wolverhampton on her penultimate start and went one better at Southwell next time.

Once she learns to settle better, winning races shouldn’t be beyond her and she looks like the one to beat here. This isn’t the deepest of novice races and handicaps will be next on the agenda if she fails to get off the mark here.

3.30 Musselburgh

Cannon Rock used to be trained by Charlie Appleby and he won a 1m2f maiden at Newmarket on his second start for previous connections. Following up under a penalty on debut for James Owen after that, things haven’t quite gone to plan since switching to handicaps.

He came close to winning when second at Kempton off a mark of 86 in May 2024 and a reproduction of that form would give the five-year-old every chance. Dual-purpose handler James Owen is having another excellent season on both fronts but this horse has a bit to prove over 1m1f.
