Two massive gambles are unfolding in the same race at Kempton today!

It’s not too often you see the two biggest gambles of the day in the very same race but that’s the scenario at Kempton today as two runners in the 2m novices’ handicap hurdle have been smashed off the boards! Let’s take a look at their chances!

3.00 Kempton

Largy Panic has been smashed in from a high of 16/1 all the way into 7/2 this morning. This lad ran a couple of nice races in points, including a runner-up finish at Kirkistown but he has yet to show that much under rules, including when beaten 60 lengths on his handicap debut at Exeter in January over much further. Clearly, connections feel a much better showing is on the way back down to the minimum from 2lb lower on what will be his first try on decent ground. He comes with risks attached but clearly someone out there expects him to go close.

The other big gamble in the race is Gone Country, who has been smashed from 33/1 all the way into 7/1 at the time of writing this article. He too ran a couple of good races in Irish points, but has also failed to make any sort of impact in four starts under rules, including on handicap debut last time when beaten out of sight at Warwick. It’s hard to see where the money has come or why it has too, but again there’s people happy to keep punting on him and in a standard Monday contest, he has to be of serious interest.
