Whilst stats provide no guarantees, they are usually decent pointers that are worth keeping an eye on. The most eye-catching statistic off the day comes from Warwick where Phillip Hobbs & Johnson White have a 60 per cent strike. They’re set to send just one runner to the track on Tuesday so we’ve had a detailed look at the horse’s chances below. Jatiluwih is a five-time hurdle winner and was rated 148 when at the peak of his powers. The David Maxwell-owned gelding completed a five-timer back in 2019, winning four novice hurdles on the bounce before following up in a handicap at Cheltenham.
It’s been a tough time for the horse since though and he’s winless in five years. The handicapper is responding accordingly however and he has now dropped to a mark of 120, meaning he qualifies for races of this grade for the first time in his career.
Dan Skelton’s Land Genie is thoroughly unexposed and appears to be one of the main dangers. Spitalfield won easily three starts ago and looks more than capable of going in again off a 5lb higher mark. Chris Cool also shouldn’t be discounted, on the evidence of his narrow third off this mark back in April.
Putting in a reasonable display when third at Lingfield last time, he’s been dropped another pound and this race looks easier. If he’s ever going to win another race, this is the perfect opportunity to do so. Hobbs & White have had three winners from five runners here so far this season and it’s not out of the question that Jatiluwih can add to their tally.
