Trainer with 43 per cent strike-rate sends two on a 484-mile round trip to Hexham 🚛

Dan Skelton has an excellent strike-rate of 43 per cent at Hexham in the last five years. This increases to a monstrous 75 per cent during the current campaign. Three of his four runners so far this season have won there and he’ll be looking to increase that tally with two more on Wednesday. Hexham is hardly just down the road from his Warwickshire base as it’s a 484-mile trip, up and down the A1. Connections will therefore be looking for compensation in the form of winners. 1.05 Hexham

Royale Dance (6-4, bet365) has shown plenty of promise in two starts under rules so far. It was a promising performance in a Stratford bumper on rules debut, finishing second to Ukantango was runner-up in a Grade 2 over hurdles when last seen. This is smart form as that horse won both his hurdles starts prior to his latest effort. Did it in good style over course and distance on hurdles debut last month. Overcoming a substantial lay-off, she won on her first start for 235 days. On that evidence, there will be plenty more to come from this mare as it’s likely she’ll improve significantly and looks like a smart prospect.

2.15 Hexham

Camdonian (1-1, bet365) is a little unfortunate to still be a maiden over hurdles. Two of his three efforts last year were fair and the best of those came over course and distance. He was denied by the narrowest of margins back in March, losing out by a nose. Ran as if he needed the run on handicap and seasonal debut at Uttoxeter last time and should be a sharper here. Impressive point-winner Choosethenews looks like the biggest danger but today could be the day for Camdonian.
