‘This track is utterly unique’ – Three runners with unbeaten records at Laytown

The only track of its kind in Britain and Ireland, Laytown hosts just one fixture a year and it takes place on Monday. This track is utterly unique as it’s on a beach and it’s a 7f straight. All six races are 6f or 7f and as the course is so bizarre, you many want to be on the look out for horses that have won there before. We have you covered on that front so here’s three previous track winners who are yet to taste defeat at Laytown. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

4.35 Laytown

Dream Today may be getting on a bit in age but Jack Davison’s nine-year-old is unbeaten in two starts here at Laytown. He won this very race last year for Adrian McGuiness off a 1lb higher mark and his third at Dundalk last time out suggests he’s in good form. Another victory here would be no surprise at all and his course record definitely makes him one to follow.

5.35 Laytown

Cardouan is also an ex-Adrian McGuinness inmate and although he was disappointing at Gowran last time out, he did win a claimer for previous connections before that. He is very adaptable with regards to trip and won here as a four-year-old but hasn’t been back since. Dylan Browne McMonagle is on board and a big run could be on the cards.

6.35 Laytown

Punk Poet won this race easily last year and his current mark is just 3lb higher. A similar performance should be more than enough with that in mind and his all-weather record suggests he appreciates these types of surfaces. John Gleeson takes the ride here and he has two winners from his four rides in the last fortnight, which can only be a good omen.
