‘This mark shouldn’t be a problem’ – 33/1 outsider of the day on Thursday

5.10 Chepstow

Flame Of Kodiac may have been unfairly overlooked in Chepstow’s closing race and she is more than capable of outrunning her price. She has already managed to win a race this season and it was a comfortable success here over a mile. If producing a similar effort, there’s a significant chance she can at least make the frame.

That two-length came off a mark of 59 and she’s currently on just a 2lb higher mark. Her current rating shouldn’t be a problem on the evidence and an improved effort could be on the cards. John & Rhys Flint’s filly also won off 65 over an extended mile at Wolverhampton in March of 2023 for previous connections.

Whilst it’s clear that she’s much better over trips at around a mile, 1m2f shouldn’t be beyond her here at Chepstow. Keenness was her undoing over course and distance on her penultimate start and she can get much closer if settling better this time around.

There are three last time out winners amongst the field of 14 who are likely to be the popular choices. Precision Storm, Bobacious and Blue Hero are the form options but Flame Of Kodiac’s declining mark surely puts her bang in the mix.
