Royal Ascot is fast approaching and there’s lots to get excited about. Many of the races now have provisional entries which means ante-post betting will start to ramp up. Liam Bramall has picked out his ante-post Nap for the entire meeting and it’s available at a juicy price. The horse in question runs on Day 1 and could get us off to a flyer. Aesop’s Fables showed some excellent form towards the back end of last season and his two best efforts came over the minimum trip. He wasn’t always the most consistent but sprinters often improve with age and there should be loads more to come at four.
The son of No Nay Never kept on eye-catchingly to take third in the Prix de l’Abbaye at a massive price on Arc weekend. That effort indicated that we hadn’t seen the best of him yet and this is definitely his year. An even better display was still to come in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint and he came out of absolutely nowhere to finish third by less than a length.
A fast run 5f on Ascot’s stiff track will be perfect for him and a first success at the top level could be on the cards. Aidan O’Brien’s colt needed the run badly when below-par on his seasonal reappearance but he made amends with a confidence-boosting Listed win when last seen.
Ante-post favourite Big Evs is very much respected but this is an open renewal and there will be few faster finishes over this trip than Aesop’s Fables. This test will be right up his street and he can earn his trainer a first win in the race.
