The feature race of the day on Wednesday is a Listed contest at Tipperary and Aidan O’Brien holds the record, with three wins. Coolmore Stud sponsor the Tipperary Stakes and they’re represented by one runner, who could well be worth keeping an eye on. A field of five has been declared so we’ve assessed the chances of each runner and Aidan O’Brien can come out on top once again. First Approach got off the mark nicely at Naas at the second time of asking. He didn’t get off to the best of starts on the day either and still managed to score by a little over a length.
The step up to 6f clearly didn’t suit in the Marble Hill Stakes at the Curragh after that and it’s no surprise that he didn’t get anywhere near Albert Einstein that day.
He’s better than he showed in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot and the occasion probably got to him. This is a much easier task than his last couple so a return to winning ways could be on the cards.
Fresh Fade was third behind the brilliant Charles Darwin on debut and followed that up with a close second at Listowel. Coming back to 5f isn’t certain to suit but his relatively consistent profile suggests he’s a possible contender.
Arugam Bay is one of only two previous winners in the field, having won at Fairyhouse last time. That form probably isn’t much to write home about, although she does look progressive. It’s likely that there’s more to come but she’ll need to find plenty.
Gelato finished fourth behind the useful Rogue Legend on debut and you would imagine that she will step forward here. Spring Is Here has been beaten a couple of times in maiden company and probably has a bit to prove at this level.
