Warwick’s Classic Chase probably isn’t quite as prestigious as it used to be, but it’s still a very competitive marathon handicap. The entries so far are looking very promising for the £100,000 race and we could have a cracking renewal on our hands. It’s set to take place at Warwick on Saturday and we’ve provided a 14-1 ante-post tip for you to consider. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Galia Des Liteaux (14-1, Coral) is set to make her handicap debut in this race and now is a good time to make the switch. Her current rating of 142 is a lovely mark, when measured against the best of her form, and she could make a mockery of it.
Trainer Dan Skelton is based nearby and winning his local track’s premier race is likely to be near the top of his priority list. He’s already had six winners at Warwick so far this season and will undoubtedly be looking to add to that tally.
Already a winner at the track, she bolted up in the Grade 2 novices’ chase on this card last year. She got the better of the useful Complete Unknown and appeared to love the testing conditions. The ground at Warwick is currently heavy and if conditions remain similar on race day, she’s likely to thrive once again.
Skelton’s eight-year-old was a tad disappointing when beaten at very skinny odds of 2-5 at Newbury last time out. Although, the handicapper responded by dropping her 3lb which could work in her favour for this race. The marathon trip is a bit of an unknown but she’s value at the prices and could well be worth giving a go.
