‘They’re closer than prices suggest’ – 66/1, 33/1 and 12/1 ante-post DRF tips

The Dublin Racing Festival is one of the highlights of the season and the Cheltenham Festival markets will be much clearer afterwards. Leopardstown’s two-day fixture kicks off on Saturday and there is a feast of Grade 1 and handicap action to look forward to. We’ve picked out some ante-post selections at big each-way prices, who could outrun their substantial odds. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.15 Leopardstown (Saturday)

Yeshil (66/1, bet365) finished third behind Kazansky in a Grade 2 at Limerick over Christmas and they’re closer than the prices suggest. There should be loads of improvement to come, especially in the jumping department, and he would have learnt plenty from the experience. Yard form is a slight concern but Henry de Bromhead is one of Ireland’s top trainers and form is definitely temporary.

2.55 Leopardstown (Saturday)

Downmexicoway (33/1, Betfred) is the most interesting of the outsiders here, as he brings some smart handicap form to the table. It has the potential to be a very hot race but a rating of 145 suggests he may well be capable of competing at this level, if the seven-year-old can continue to progress. Don’t rule out a big run from the seven-year-old.

3.30 Leopardstown (Saturday)

I Am Maximus (12/1, bet365) is right up there with the best of them on official ratings and his second in the Savills Chase last time out was a much improved display. He finished second behind the progressive Affordale Fury, sticking to his task well. The 2024 Grand National winner is probably heading back to Aintree and a big run here would set him up perfectly.
