Racing at Cheltenham is always worth getting excited about and the November Meeting is one of their best fixtures on the calendar. It gets underway on Friday and we have six excellent races to look forward to. There’s a significant amount of Irish interest across the weekend and there are several interesting raiders on Friday. With that in mind, we’ve picked out three intriguing Irish runners and combined them into a massive treble. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Avalo (16/1, Betfred) represents Cheltenham Festival-winning trainer Peter Fahey and has been the model of consistency recently. He won a Wexford maiden hurdle in good style back in May and has finished second or third in his last five starts. Less than a length away from winning at Punchestown last time out, another big run can’t be ruled out.
Heads Up (5/2, Betfred) sprung a bit of a surprise when finishing second behind Bambino Fever in the Champion Bumper here in March. That means the spotlight will be on him during his novice hurdle campaign now and he won a maiden at Listowel back in September. Improvement seems likely and there’s loads of stamina in his pedigree, which suggests the longer trip will suit.
Bruant (7/1, Betfred) is one of two runners for handicap specialist Tony Martin in this race and appears to be the most interesting. Sean Bowen can’t stay out of the winners’ enclosure so it’s a big plus that he’s been booked for the ride. Lightly raced over hurdles, he won a Downpatrick novice with little fuss back in June and appears to be on a fair mark now tackling handicaps.
