‘There’s more to come’ – Red-hot Owen Burrows has one runner on Wednesday

Owen Burrows has been a trainer to follow in the last fortnight, as he’s been in red-hot form. The Lambourn-based handler prefers quality over quantity in general and has only had 85 runners so far this season, which have yielded 22 winners. His strike-rate in the last fortnight is particularly eye-catching, as it’s 40 per cent. Four winners from just 10 runners is an impressive return and he has one runner at Salisbury on Wednesday. 4.30 Salisbury

Azaniya has a decent pedigree and one of her half-siblings was a Group 3 winner in France. There’s also some stamina in there, with another relative winning over two miles. She remains very lightly raced, having had just four starts, and appears to be progressing nicely.

Burrows’ filly could only manage sixth on debut but the winner is a smart filly, winning a decent Listed race subsequently. The penny dropped quite late on but she kept on well at a big price and there was plenty to like about that performance.

Stepping up to a mile next time, she managed to get a lot closer and was arguably a little unlucky too. Eventually finishing third, she kept on again, despite being short of room inside the final furlong.

Kieran Shoemark left nothing to chance at Newmarket on seasonal debut and she absolutely bolted up in a Newmarket novice, where she made all the running. The daughter of Night Of Thunder followed up on handicap debut at Windsor and the front two were miles clear of the rest that day.

This is obviously harder and the three-year-old will need to step forward again but her profile suggests there’s more to come and it’s hard to ignore the yard’s current form.
