‘The step up in trip will massively suit’ – 25/1, 14/1 & 12/1 Saturday ITV outsiders

It was another day to remember for followers of Adrian Wall’s ITV outsiders column a couple of week’s ago as Twig, advised at a massive 33/1, saw off the gallant Mr Vango in a thrilling finish at Aintree! Adrian then had a 16/1 winner on his next column! Adrian is back with ITV outsiders for Saturday’s action! Read on for more info.

Grand Albert (12/1) still has few miles on the clock and he is a winner over both hurdles and fences. He wasn’t given a hard time when a good fourth of eight runners in a 3m handicap chase at Bangor three weeks ago, with his jumping not too fluent on the day. Cheekpieces go on now and he runs off a fair mark, while he is bound to also improve for his second run of the campaign.

2.25 Ascot

It has been a while since the French won this Grade 1 contest. We have to go back to 2014 when Reve De Sivola won the contest for the third time on the bounce. David Cottin’s Jet Blue (14/1) bids to put that record straight now though and he has a chance. He won a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Cheltenham over 3m last winter and comes here on the back of a good second in a 2m Auteuil Group 1. The step up in trip will massively suit.

2.40 Haydock

Amelia’s Star (25/1) has plenty on her plate in this Listed mares’ hurdle but she could figure. Progressive in bumpers, she ran well in a Grade 2 at Aintree last season and ran a nice race on hurdles bow at Huntingdon over 2m last month, with the front two stretching clear. She could improve.
