1.50 Newmarket

Mr Colonel (20/1) might be overpriced in the Group 3 Zetland Stakes. He pulled clear with an odds-on rival who subsequently ran a cracker in the Goffs Million on debut and stayed on really well at the death when second at Ayr over 1m when last seen. On that evidence, the step up in trip will suit and cheekpieces could also help.

2.25 Newmarket

Archer Royal (14/1) was an expensive 340,000gns purchase and the son of Blue Point produced a blistering turn of foot to make winning first time out in a 7f Chelmsford novice in August. He took another step forward when third in Group 3 at this track on latest and is well worth a crack at this.

3.00 Newmarket

Alparslan (14/1) got off to the perfect start when winning at Leicester in August and was well-backed when sent off favourite for a 16-runner valuable sales race at the Curragh last time, when winning with utter ease. It’s a surprise that he is double digit odds here and the stable have been in brilliant form of late.
