‘The heavens have opened in Kerry’ – Three soft ground lovers at Listowel on Friday

It has been a fantastic week already at the Listowel Harvest Festival and we have another attractive card to look forward to on Tuesday but the heavens have opened so we need soft ground horses to be on our side. Let’s take a look at the three who we think could go well there on Friday with proven form in the ground.

2.05 Listowel

Willie Mullins’ Stormbreaker never raced in proper soft conditions even when trained in Britain on the Flat so it might be wise to take that one on with Irish Panther. Eddie O’Grady’s gelding has been expensive to follow, placing on all six outings to date, but he sets a solid standard and has run well in the mud which will count for a lot. He can finally get off the mark.

2.40 Listowel

He will have to carry top weight and 11-12 but Cian Collins’ Mighty Tom has big win and place claims in the feature Listed 2m handicap hurdle in the hands of Jordan Gainford. He has no issue with soft ground and ran on well late on soft ground when second at Killlarney off the back of his Galway Hurdle fifth. He will be coming home late and fast and is respected.

3.15 Listowel

In the following 2m handicap hurde, It’sallabouteve enjoys the mud and can bounce back from a below par effort at Killarney on good ground last time. She bolted up at Tipperary over fences on her penultimate start and is still running off a very nice mark over hurdles. She’s entitled to fight out the finish in a very open affair.
