We are set fare for another cracking day of action at Leopardstown on Sunday and Willie Mullins put his doubters to the sword on Saturday when landing a couple of big prizes. Adrian Wall takes a look at Sunday’s card and picks out three horses who should be involved in the finish.
Argento Boy’s form looks very strong given The Big Westerner went on to win a Grade 3 at Limerick subsequently but the value in the opening 2m4f lies with The Enabler. Gordon Elliott’s son of Walk In The Park chased home the exciting Jasmin De Vaux at Navan when last seen but the third, Workahead, bolted up in a strong maiden hurdle here at Leopardstown this week. It could turn out to be a match between the pair mentioned but The Enabler is a juicy each-way price.
State Man is the most likely winner of the Grade 1 Neville Hotels Hurdle, a race he has won twice already, and although Brighterdaysahead could be the one to serve it up to him, I can’t get over the price of Mystical Power at around 10/1. Any horse can have a bad day at the office so I’m more than happy to forgive his underwhelming return at Newcastle. A dual Grade 1 winner last season, he can race very freely but he should get a strong pace to aim at here and he looked a proper Champion Hurdle horse to my eyes last season. At the prices, I’ll have a pop.
With the form Joseph O’Brien is in at present, I’ll also have an each-way bet on Mr Percy in the 2m4f Listed handicap hurdle. The Flat-bred was an impressive winner of a Limerick maiden hurdle in October and only bumped into Bleu De Vassy in a Navan Grade 3 latest. That winner finished second in a Grade 1 here this week.
