It’s going to be an exciting weekend for racing fans and Cheltenham‘s three-day November fixture is the highlight. There are plenty of intriguing races to look forward to but the main event is the Paddy Power Gold Cup. It’s a very valuable and prestigious handicap, with an illustrious roll of honour. We’ve selected an Irish raider at 9/1 for Saturday’s showpiece and the horse in question is progressing nicely. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Coming Up Easy (9/1, bet365) struggled in his first couple of starts last season but produced a much better performance to win a novice handicap chase at Limerick in March. Scoring by 11 lengths that day, he made all the running and his five rivals had no answer.
Aggressive tactics were employed once again at Cork next time and he successfully managed to hold off the challengers. The shorter trip probably wasn’t ideal but the fact that he won anyway is a massive positive and he appears to be very progressive.
Henry de Bromhead’s gelding completed his hat-trick with an impressive success in a Listed handicap at Killarney in August and that run was the perfect trial. The handicapper didn’t miss it however but he’s worth keeping on side until his limitations are exposed.
The trainer said that the Paddy Power Gold Cup is the aim so provided we don’t get too much rain, he’s very likely to line up. There could be more to come from this vast improver and he remains very lightly raced over the larger obstacles.
