‘She could be special’ – Apple’s Jade’s first foal set to make her debut at Naas on Saturday

It’s not too often that an average Naas bumper hits the headlines but most horse racing fans will be tuning in to watch it on Saturday. Make sure you check out our free horse racing tips which are live on the website now!

3.40 Naas

Five runners are set to go to post for the Naas bumper but Gordon Elliott’s Apples Jane is the one who could make the headlines. The Walk In The Park filly is the first foal out of 11-time Grade 1 winner Apple’s Jade and the Bective Stud homebred is likely to go off a pretty short price on her debut.

Apple’s Jade will live long in the memory of all national hunt racing fans. She started out her career with Willie Mullins but Michael O’Leary and Mullins had a falling out over training fees which saw O’Leary pull all of his horses out of the yard, and many went to Gordon Elliott.

The stellar mare won three Hatton’s Grace Hurdles, the David Nicholson Mares’ Hurdle, the Irish Champion Hurdle and three Leopardstown Christmas Hurdles. An owners dream, she was a true great but can her first foal follow in her footsteps?

Elliott runs two in the contest but Josh Williamson will take the ride on Apples Jane. His 7lb claim could prove to be very useful as it means the filly will receive a full stone off her stablemate Eternal Echo, who will be ridden by Harry Swan.

Facile Ocean looks the only other real danger on paper but everything looks set for Apples Jane to make a winning racecourse debut here.
