Saturday Lucky 15 at Cheltenham: four Irish raiders the bookies will be afraid of
We are going to be promised some massive Cheltenham Festival clues on Saturday as some of the big guns come out from the fields to get their campaigns under way. The highlight is of course the Paddy Power Gold Cup but we have plenty of action to look forward to at Cheltenham’s November meeting. Prairie Angel was improving all the time on the Flat, but she is unbeaten in two starts over hurdles, landing a juvenile contest at Down Royal over 2m1f a fortnight ago when doing it from the front. Her jumping was her saving grace on the day and she’s open to improvement.
1.10 Cheltenham
Tony Martin’s Read To Return won over 2m7f at Killarney last season but has been out of form since. He caught the eye when fourth at Punchestown last month but is still 1lb higher than when fifth in this race last year. He will be held up for a late run.
3.30 Cheltenham
Another Tony Martin runner Hamsiyann is of interest in the 2m5f handicap hurdle. A solid third at Ascot back in March, he chased home Alphonse Le Grande in the Chester Plate on the Flat and Martin won this race in 2022 with Unanswered.
4.00 Cheltenham
Willie Mullins’ Korinthia is unbeaten in two starts in bumpers and she finishes her races off powerfully. The Cheltenham hill will suit on that evidence and she could be all the rage in the betting.
