Saturday ITV outsiders: ‘Burke’s top weight the value at around 20/1 at Ascot’

Haydock - Pea Shooter

Adrian Wall is back with his weekly feast of ITV Racing outsiders and he has picked out three horses who should outrun their large odds live on TV on ITV on Saturday. Make sure you check out our free horse racing tips for the day, and remember, always bet responsibly.

2.10 Ascot

Karl Burke is usually good for a Saturday winner and it’s a huge day for leading owner Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum who has two live chances in the Group 1 Sprint Cup at Haydock. He has Imperial Sovereign (20/1) here, who won on debut at Newcastle and looked progressive when runner-up in a Kempton novice over 1m3f in March. Tried at pattern level, he fell short and he had excuses on handicap debut in the Melrose at York as he didn’t see out the trip. Big player back down in trip now with the visor reached for.

2.25 Haydock

Irish trainer John McConnell is in flying form at present and despite the lengthy absence Caliyza (20/1) is a player here on her return to action. Twice a winner when trained in France, she is making her debut for her new yard here and although her opening mark here of 91 is harsh enough, she has Cesarewitch entries upcoming which is a good sign. She could surprise.

3.35 Haydock

In the big race of the day, I’m going to have a small win and place punt on Vadream (66/1) who was far from disgraced in the July Cup at Newmarket in July. She ran on well to the line and although she couldn’t take advantage of a drop in class at Newmaket last month, it wouldn’t shock me if she ran into the top four here.
