He put in a career-best effort when winning at this course over the extended 2m7f in October, finding more than what looked likely, and was a good third at Aintree later that month. He should go well again here.
Saint Anapolino is improving at a rate of knots over hurdles, landing a hat-trick in a tough C&D handicap last month. The handicapper has responded with a further 7lb rise in the weights, and although this is tougher, he’s hard to get away from at this moment in time.
Bad was extremely frustrating for connections since landing on British shores but he deservedly opened his account under different tactics in fine style over C&D last time out, given a patient ride in retained blinkers and finally getting it done. He’s gone up in the weights but still looks well treated overall.
