Ryan Moore is always the man for a big occasion but it’s not too often that we see him riding midweek this season. Coolmoore’s retained rider heads up to Pontefract for the first time this season and he’s set to have two rides on Wednesday. He has a very healthy strike-rate of 35 per cent at the Yorkshire track in the last five years which bodes well for his chances.
His two rides combine into a 5-1 double and he won’t want to return home empty-handed. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Royal Zabeel (9-4, Paddy Power) made his debut for Kevin Ryan over course and distance last month and he was comfortably beaten back in seventh. There were excuses however as he got off to a slow start and looked green when beginning to make some progress. He was also denied a run inside the final furlong and with a bit of luck, plenty of improvement could be on the cards second time out. This son of Mastercraftsman may want further in time but his dam possessed plenty of speed.
Point Given (1-1, Paddy Power) also looked green on debut, when finishing fourth at Doncaster. Sir Michael Stoute’s charge kept on nicely in the final furlong and appeared to be getting the hang of things by the end of the race. We should see a much more professional horse this time around and this looks like a fantastic opportunity to get off the mark. He’s impeccably bred and his expensive price tag indicates that he should have plenty of ability.
