Road to Cheltenham: 16/1 tip for the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase

The Cheltenham Festival starts on a Tuesday so we’re kicking off our Road to Cheltenham ante-post series on a Tuesday too. This week Liam Bramall is offering up a 16/1 shot for the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase, the second race on Day 2. Gordon Elliott trains the horse in question and he made a fine start to his chasing career recently. Have a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase

One race that has a knack for producing talented staying chasers is the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle, which has been won by Galopin Des Champs in the past.

Better Days Ahead was a game winner of that race at Cheltenham in March and looks like a serious candidate this season. Gordon Elliott’s gelding made his debut over fences at Navan earlier this month and managed to comfortably get the better of Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner Slade Steel.

He made all the running that day and whilst there’s room for improvement in the jumping department, there’s clearly a sizable engine under the bonnet. Slade Steel is a sizable scalp and he looks more than ready for a step back up in grade now. The six-year-old could line up at Fairyhouse this weekend and he can rubber stamp his credentials with another victory.

This son of Milan won on his only start in an Irish point over three miles and the second has won a couple of times under rules since. Three and a bit miles over fences should be no problem on that evidence and he can progress further in this sphere.
