Red-hot trainer sends a runner on the 718-mile round trip to Ayr for the first time

Newmarket-trainer Hamad Al Jehani has been in excellent form recently with three winners from his seven runners in the last fortnight. That’s enough to make his sole representative at Ayr interesting but it’s also his first ever runner at the track, so it’s definitely worth taking note!

It’s a 718-mile round trip from Newmarket to the Scottish track and connections won’t want to come home empty-handed. The horse in question finished third last time out and we’re going to assess his chances of going two better. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

3.25 Ayr

Mister Sketch looks like the one to beat here, having finished a close up third off this mark at Salisbury last time out. That run also came on heavy ground so the testing conditions are unlikely to be a problem. This looks like a winnable race and a similar effort could facilitate a return to winning ways.

He looked potentially special as a two-year-old, after winning a novice by almost 10 lengths on his second start. Following that up with a good second in the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes, he has been a little inconsistent since. The son of Territories is clearly competitive off this mark and should be going close.

Apprentice Jack Nicholls takes a useful 5lb off here and he rode a winner for Al Jehani at Newmarket last month. The weight allowance could make a big difference here, as the four-year-old only just about squeezes into this 0-85.

Lord Bertie returned to form with a good second over course and distance last time out and could go well again. Bryan Smart’s Station X has struggled a bit this season but he is sliding down the weights and won on soft and heavy at the back end of last season.
