The incredible Droopys Kathleen is owned by Dylan Browne McMonagle, retained rider at Joseph O’Brien’s stable. McMonagle entered greyhound ownership this year and what a year it has been as it turns out he has a monster on his hands!
Last weekend, Droopys Kathleen broke the clock at Shelbourne Park, recording a record time of just 27.58 seconds to run 525 yards in the Puppy Oaks, and she was coasting alone at an average speed of 38mph, recording a winning distance of 12-and-a-half lengths, which is just staggering.
Even though she was below her best in the The Gourmet Island Puppy Oaks 525 Final at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night just gone, she still clocked a time of 28.05 and was three lengths clear of the second, Unanimous Roxy, who tried her very best but was no match for her once they turned the final bend for home.
McMonagle is still a very young jockey and the globetrotter has earned a fortune already in his short career. His 18-month-old greyhound is probably just a hobby on the side but what a hobby it is turning out to be, as he could own one of the best dogs that has ever graced a track.
Every afternoon, an accumulator, mega accumulator and Nap are posted on our Greyhound tips page and with the Irish Derby final coming this weekend at Shelbourne Park, you will want to tune in and see what dogs we fancy! Bockos Diamond is going to be all the rage on the night and if he runs anywhere near his best, he should win it!
