Not every horse is going to like the conditions at Ffos Las on Friday, as the official going description is currently soft, heavy in places and light rain is expected to continue. Wet ground at Ffos Las is infamously hard work so previous form in testing conditions definitely counts. We have you covered however, so here are three horses who have won on heavy ground before and are unlikely to get stuck in the mud. Blowers provided one of the shock results of the season when landing an Exeter novice hurdle at odds of 300/1 earlier on in the season. Conditions were shocking on the day and the track was almost waterlogged. On that evidence, he should cope with the conditions here better than most. Ella Herbison’s 7lb claim offsets his 7lb penalty and it would be dangerous to rule out another big run.
Lady Henrietta has performed consistently this season and she was a winner on heavy ground at Leicester on her penultimate start. On just a 3lb higher mark now, she kept on to finish third here over a shorter trip last time and three miles should be right up her street on that evidence. Champion jockey Sean Bowen is on board and a return to winning ways could be on the cards.
Reinado is progressing well at the moment and he got off the mark with a wide-margin success on heavy ground at Uttoxeter in November. Following up at Chepstow off the same mark next time, the handicapper has whacked him with a 14lb rise but he’s worth keeping on side until his limitations are exposed.
