Paul Townend has an incredible 42 per cent strike-rate at Tramore Racecourse in the last five seasons, which is nearly a winner from every two rides, and it has to be of interest that the champion jockey travels to the County Waterford track for just one ride on the card on Sunday afternoon! Let’s take a look at the horse in more detail.
The horse in question is the Willie Mullins runner, Coole Cherry, who will take her chance in the mares’ beginners’ chase, and she has opened up 13/2 with bet365 which could look rather generous 24 hours from now.
Runner-up all four starts in bumpers, this mare is far from the stable’s leading light, but she won a Kilbeggan maiden hurdle by 10 lengths last September before finishing second in a handicap at the Listowel Harvest Festival.
Coole Cherry was pulled up in a handicap hurdle at the Galway Festival when last seen, which may be the reason for the juicy price on her chase debut, but she might well be the type who may improve for a switch to fences.
She certainly will need to improve to win this 2m6f contest, for sure. Henry de Bromhead’s Cobra Queen arrives here off the back of a fine second on her second chase start when narrowly denied at Tipperary and is entitled to go close again.
World Of Fortunes was a Listed winner over hurdles in March and hasn’t been disgraced in Grade 1 company, so she is also another interesting type tackling larger obstacles for the first time. Will the trip be worth it for Paul Townend? Only time will tell.
