One to watch: 2,000,000gns son of Frankel makes his debut at Naas on Thursday

The Coolmore partners are one of the dominant forces in Flat racing and with that comes big spending power. Their tremendous success over the years means they can afford to splash out 2,000,000gns on a horse who makes its debut at Naas on Thursday. Trained by Aidan O’Brien, the horse in question is a son of Frankel and is surely one to keep an eye on. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

5.40 Naas

Galveston is rather interesting from a pedigree perspective as only one of his three half-siblings have managed to win. Clearly the presence of super-sire Frankel in the breeding has encouraged the Coolmore group to spare no expense. Aidan O’Brien has 45 winners from just 142 two-year-old runners in Ireland this year and it’s highly unlikely that he’s done there.

Another thing he has on his side is the fact that Ryan Moore has made the journey over to ride. Moore’s strike-rate at Naas is a particularly healthy 42 per cent so far this season and that certainly bodes well for Galveston’s chances.

There are some interesting types in opposition here, including Jessica Harrington’s Edge Of Seventeen, who is half-sister to a Group 1 winner. Stablemate Serious Contender and Johnny Murtagh’s Reyenzi could also pose a significant threat. This is a potentially warm maiden and we could see a few useful prospects.

He’s likely to improve for the run, as the vast majority of Aidan O’Brien’s juveniles get better with experience. That being said, O’Brien does have plenty of first time out juvenile winners and it would be no surprise if this colt was to join the club.
