It might be a Monday morning but that doesn’t slow down the action as there’s a few hefty gambles taking place for today’s racing across Britain and Ireland! Jonjo & A.J. O’Neill have been in brilliant form of late, form that included a couple of Cheltenham Festival winners, and it’s fascinating to see the money pour in for Beachcomber today in the 3m handicap chase at Ludlow. He has been in rather poor form since winning a 3m Kempton handicap last winter and a solid third at last year’s Punchestown Festival but he’s back down to a winnable mark now.
The biggest gamble of the day in Ireland is in the closing 1m2f handicap where Johnny Murtagh’s Accelereight has been backed into favouritism. Sixth in a strong Leopardstown on his debut last year, he went backwards in two starts after that but he has been gelded and wears first-time cheekpieces ahead of his handicap debut. He could be thrown in here off an opening mark of 58.
Saucy Jane bolted up in a 5f Beverley maiden last May and ran a good race on her return when fourth in a Kempton handicap, which was also her first run on the all-weather. She has seen a weight of money come for her in this 5f fillies’ handicap.
Mooretown Lad hasn’t won since August 2024 but he was an eyecatching fourth here last month and he’s now off a very workable mark down in trip.
