As big as 7/1 yesterday evening, the best backed horse of the day so far is Jack Langley in the opening 1m4f handicap at Lingfield. Now as short as 15/8 in places and a general 2/1, with bet365 holding firm at 9/4 for now, it has been quite the most for Simon Dow’s runner, with Paddy Bradley booked for the ride.
A repeat of his runner-up finish over course and distance on his penultimate start brings Jack Langley right into this. A former C&D winner, that run was full of promise as he was badly hampered around four furlongs from home and stayed on well again inside the final furlong when no match for the winner Cardinal Point.
He was well clear of the third on the day and it’s no surprise to see punters come for this horse today. He will need to leave behind a poor run at Epsom last time out but it’s a run that is easily forgiven as he missed the break completely and was detached early, plugging on late to finish a remote fifth. He will feel more at home back around here.
