9.00 Lingfield

The best backed horse of the morning runs in the very last race tonight. The closing 6f sprint is a competitive race on paper but San Francisco Bay has been backed from an opening price of 14/1 all the way into 11/2. It will be no surprise if he drifts back out during the day but many were keen to get on this horse early which is interesting with Royal Ascot distracting many.

Trained by Henry Candy, the son of Muhaarar last tasted success over this course and distance last summer when landing a big gamble for the yard. The ground was good to firm on that occasion and we have quick ground again here for the gelding.

Now only 3lb above his last winning mark, he had excuses last time at Salisbury where he ran a poor race on heavy ground, which he hated. Back at his favourite track with his favourite conditions, it’s no surprise to see the money come for him.

San Francisco Bay has the plum draw in stall one so should get a nice run around the rail which is a big advantage around here and everything looks set for a big run. Hopefully it will be worth the wait.
