4.15 Limerick

The horse in question is Arctic Fly, who had a luckless run when pulled up in the Kerry National at Listowel when last seen. The mare made a mistake at the fourth fence and again at the fifth, before making a shuddering error at the eighth when near the rear. She was then hampered at the tenth fence and was then eased up as her chance was gone.

She is without doubt much better than that and it’s interesting that Townend is riding her ahead of You Oughta Know, who was aboard that horse in the Kerry National when he was sent off favourite but he fell at the tenth fence when in touch. On that evidence, it’s a surprise that he is on Arctic Fly, so could it be a tip in itself?

Arctic Fly won a 2m handicap chase at Tipperary in July and was second at Galway after that over 2m2f. This is just her second try at this sort of trip over 3m and it’s hard to tell if she will stay the trip, but she must be showing something at home to warrant Townend choosing her over hr stablemate and could be value.
