Adrian has loved racing from an early age, and regularly visits his local tracks in the west of Ireland. With a love for both UK & Irish flat and jumps racing, his favourite festival is the Galway Races and he goes there every year.
Leading Flat trainer David O’Meara is well used to tasting success in that code but he has a rare runner over hurdles at Musselburgh Racecourse on Sunday and the horse has a fantastic chance on paper. Let’s take a look in more detail below, but remember, you can check out all of our free racing tips on the website right now.
The horse in question is Stressfree and the five-year-old gelding will line up in the opening maiden hurdle over just shy of two miles. Henry Brooke will take the ride on this runner, who won three times on the level and is rated well into the 90s in that sphere.
Using the ‘add on 40 pounds rule’, in theory he should be able to run up to a mark in the 130s over hurdles in time if he can replicate that level of form over timber, and if he runs anywhere close to that sort of mark here, he will take all the beating.
Stressfree was sent off favourite for his hurdles debut when third at Catterick in January. However, it was a small-field affair and he was held up off the pace. Tactics got the better of him on the day and although he was closing late on and hit 1.4 as they were approaching the last, he couldn’t find once he pinged the last and had to settle for third.
A slightly larger field here will be in Stressfree’s favour and he really should have the gears to see off his challengers in a race of this nature, but he is priced accordingly.
