JP McManus supplements Grade 1 winner for the Betfair Chase and he’s 8/1

JP McManus is arguably National Hunt racing’s biggest owner and is rarely far away from the headlines. He has stumped up the cash to supplement a Grade 1 winner for the Betfair Chase on Saturday. If that wasn’t interesting enough, the horse in question is trained by the great Willie Mullins, which means this development is sure to spark some interest.

Currently available at 8/1 in the ante-post market, we’ve had a close look at the horse in question’s chances below. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing but please remember to gamble responsibly and keep it fun!

Betfair Chase

Capodanno seems to have been around forever, despite only being an eight-year-old, and he has some excellent form to his name. Chief among his best recent form is victory in the Grade 2 Cotswold Chase at Cheltenham in January. Potential opponents Ahoy Senor and Royale Pagaille were in behind him that day and many will fancy him to confirm it.

This race could cut up if the ground doesn’t get any softer between now and Saturday and he looks pretty adaptable with regards to conditions. Grey Dawning heads the market and the Skelton yard has made an excellent start to the season. Our ante-post selection Ahoy Senor could take some stopping however, but it would be a huge statement if the Mullins-trained gelding comes out on top.

JP McManus has a powerful team this term and Fact To File should be his star in this division. That horse has been left at home and Capodanno now has the chance to return to winning ways in Grade 1 company for the first time since his novice chasing days.
