Jockey with 41% strike-rate at Market Rasen this season – let’s assess his rides

Sean Bowen is arguably the best jockey over jumps in Britain at the moment and the stats speak for themselves. Operating at around 26 per cent this season, his numbers at Market Rasen are even better, with 14 winners from 34 rides this term, a brilliant 41 per cent return!

Bowen has five rides at Market Rasen on Thursday and he looks sure to have a couple of winners! Let’s assess their chances below.

Lunar Orbit was a maiden on the Flat but showed ability in this code when second on hurdle debut at Sedgefield. He was out of sorts next time but was a solid third at Fontwell when last seen and this is his first run since having a wind operation.

Kefir d’Oudairies won a Fakenham bumper in February who needed the run on hurdle bow, but improved a lot when a narrow second over C&D three weeks ago. That sets a solid standard and he looks the main threat to Harry Lowes.

Ebony Jade was a maiden hurdler in Ireland who has produced nothing of note in Britain. He was heavily backed on first run for this stable with cheekpieces added at Ludlow in October, but was pulled up. He is very risky.

Ithaka won twice over hurdles over 2m7f last season and is still very lightly raced over fences. If he’s ready to roll after a break, there’s a chance he could be well treated in this sphere.

3.20 Market Rasen

Pic N Mix is from the family of Harchibald so he is bred to be quite smart but he disappointed on debut at Sandown last month. Nonetheless, it’s still early days and he could improve.
