Jockey in focus: Dylan Browne McMonagle has a nice book of rides at Down Royal

Dylan Browne McMonagle

It has been a landmark season for Dylan Browne McMonagle so far and he’s currently flying high at the top of the championship. He leads Colin Keane by six winners at the time of writing and will be keen to add to his tally in order to maintain or extend the gap. McMonagle has a nice book of rides at Down Royal on Friday so we’ve picked out his four best chances of coming away with a winner. 4.50 Down Royal

Sci Fi needs to improve on her four efforts to date but it’s unlikely that we’ve seen the best of her thus far. This looks like a very winnable maiden and therefore a good opportunity to get off the mark. The form of her run behind Seattle in May is solid enough and she could be dangerous.

5.22 Down Royal

Green Citation was a €30,000 purchase for Simon Munir & Isaac Souede and he’s set to make his debut here. Whilst the son of Ghaiyyath is related to some speedy types, it’s likely that he’ll inherit some stamina from his sire. Middle-distances could be on the cards next year but this is a good starting point.

5.54 Down Royal

Clarity Of Thought has struggled somewhat so far but his best effort came over this trip in maiden company at Fairyhouse. Failing to see out the trip whilst running well enough over a mile last time, there should be more to come in handicap company.

6.24 Down Royal

Billie Frechette represents his best chance of the day, having won two of her last three starts on the Flat. Noel Meade’s filly also won a maiden hurdle at Cork in good style back in July and the marathon trip is unlikely to be an issue. Further progress can’t be ruled out.
