This is a son of Dream Ahead and his dam is a half-sister to three French winners, and she’s out of a 8.6f winning half-sister to two 1m3f Listed winners. On paper, he has a bit to find, but this race can throw up a surprise.

Metier (10/1) was last seen finishing a running-on eighth of 20 in a tough handicap at the Galway festival last July. The dual-purpose performer and Grade 1-winning hurdler is a classy type whose best days are behind him, but he wasn’t disgraced in a Group 3 at Sandown last May and he is back down to his last winning Flat mark, which was a win at Chester off 97 in May 2023.

Lattam (12/1) finished runner-up in this race 12 months ago and he is only 2lb higher in the weights on his return. The former Irish Lincoln winner has a good record fresh but he rounded off last season with a second in the Balmoral Handicap at Ascot. He’s a nice each-way price and with a good few places on offer, he should hit the frame.
