One of the most important factors to consider when trying to pick out a winner is previous course form. Every track is different, as is every horse, which means some perform better at certain tracks than others. With this in mind, we’ve picked out four runners on Friday with proven records at their respective tracks which should give them a massive advantage. Bama Lama loves it here at Ffos Las, which appears to be her home away from home. Rod Millman’s mare has only finished outside of the first three once in seven starts at the track. This includes two victories, both of which came over the minimum trip. The majority of her career wins have come over 6f though and she’s likely to run her race once again.
Brazen Bolt has been out of form since returning to Britain but his handicap mark has been the cause of that. He has now slipped to a mark which is just 1lb higher than when winning over course and distance in September and he’s yet to finish outside of the places here at Thirsk. Surely a return to form is on the cards sooner rather than later.
Global Esteem is a two-time course winner, including over this trip last time out. Making all the running that day, he was strong at the finish and scored comfortably in the end. A 4lb rise certainly isn’t outrageous and another big run is anticipated from Fergal O’Brien’s seven-year-old.
Beau Jardine has won four times in his career and 50 per cent of those successes have come at Salisbury. Rachel Cook & John Bridger’s gelding always save his best for Salisbury and has only failed to place once in five starts here. The most recent of those was a four-and-a-quarter-length win over 6f in May and he should be competitive off just a 2lb higher mark.
